The Journey Behind Our Air Quality Software

Turning a Challenge into an Opportunity

AQS was born out of a moment of uncertainty. When my previous employer suddenly ceased trading, I lost my job as an air quality consultant. I had identified several areas of mismanagement and inefficiency at my previous company so I decided to take on a new challenge - building something better. Air Quality Solutions was incorporated 20 October 2022.

I quickly noticed that environmental consultancy is a competitive space and AQS needed something to differentiate itself.

Starting to build

That is when, in January 2023, Will, a close friend from university with a background in programming, reached out if he could help. The software was originally built in-house to allow us to more easily handle workload and provide customers with an exceptional experience. It led us down a rabbit hole of spending countless hours deconstructing assessments and finding new innovative ways to optimise processes.

We were put in a unique situation where we were able to refine and improve the software as we used it ourselves to complete assessments. It enabled us to identify and develop features to relieve pain-points we were experiencing when completing assessments manually. The further we went, the clearer is became: this software wasn’t just an internal tool—it had the potential to improve the way other air quality consultants conducted assessments.

Air Quality Software, Made by Air Quality Consultants

We spent 2024 carefully building features to optimise assessment processes rather than restrict through aimlessly automating. We built in a level of flexibility and attention to detail that can only be achieved by an air quality specialist. We aimed to capture assessment nuances so we could deliver air quality consultants with the best possible experience.

Empowering the Industry with Innovation

Now in 2025, after years of refinement, I am thrilled to deliver this software to other air quality consultants so they can take control of their time and provide their clients with the highest quality reports in the industry!

But we’re not stopping here. We are committed to continuous development, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and increasing the number of services the software can handle. Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the progress of the industry, ensuring better assessments, better data, and better air quality for everyone.

The map includes site details, distance calculations, and council information. On the right side, there is a Google Street View panel showing a roadside location. Below the map, green buttons labeled "Site Inputs," "Dispersion Model Inputs," and "Submit" provide user options for data input. A legend at the bottom indicates site classification categories.
