Air Quality Assessment for Planning Cost
Air quality assessment cost is determined by the type of air quality assessment you require.
There are 3 levels of air quality assessments for planning:
Baseline Air Quality Assessment (Also referred to as “simple air quality assessment”, “basic air quality assessment” or “screening air quality assessment”) – Suitable for smaller developments not likely to have a large impact and does not include a dispersion model.
Standard Air Quality Assessment – For medium to large developments that don’t pass the baseline air quality assessment. It contains on-site dispersion modelling.
Impact Air Quality Assessment – Required for developments expected to have significant traffic impacts. It contains on-site dispersion modelling and off-site modelling of sensitive receptors.
In addition, within air quality assessments there are additional considerations such as the Dust Assessment and Air Quality Neutral Assessment. Most companies charge extra for these but Air Quality Solutions covers all additional requirements for FREE.
When creating an air quality assessment quote, here are the key factors air quality consultants look for:
Project Location – Proposals located in areas of existing poor air quality such as air quality management areas have a higher likelihood of requiring a more extensive assessment.
Development Scale – Larger schemes have greater impacts which typically require modelling. Smaller schemes typically have lower impacts so a less extensive assessment is needed.
Additional factors that can influence the final cost of an air quality assessment:
Monitoring - If there is an insufficient amount of monitoring data within the vicinity of the development, a monitoring survey can be requested. In addition, if there is potential to cause unacceptable dust impacts, dust monitoring may be required.
Further assessment - If a development does not pass their air quality assessment or if requested by the local authority, air quality mitigation may be required. In these cases, an air quality mitigation assessment is carried out to cover the air quality damage costs.
